The International Brucknerfest Linz 2024 is comprehensively dedicated to the great composer Anton Bruckner, whose 200th birthday we will celebrate on 4 September 2024. Under the motto "Infinite expanses. Bruckner's work as a reach for the stars", the festival presents a unique and unparalleled concert series.
Alongside many world stars and orchestras such as Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra, Christian Thielemann and the Vienna Philharmonic, Markus Poschner and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Michi Gaigg and the L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, Thomas Hengelbrock and the Munich Philharmonic, star tenor Thomas Hampson and the celebrated sopranos Christiane Karg and Julia Lezhneva, the exceptional pianist Marc-André Hamelin and the internationally renowned Tenebrae Choir under the direction of Nigel Short, the International Brucknerfest Linz 2024 offers a true world sensation in the anniversary year of Anton Bruckner's 200th birthday. Bruckner's 200th birthday:
For the first time in the world, all eleven of Bruckner's symphonies will be performed as a complete cycle in their original sound, a furious musical voyage of discovery that can only be heard at the Brucknerhaus Linz and exclusively in Austria. The symphonies will always be performed in their first version and thus in the form that Bruckner originally intended for each work. The specially conceived, programmed and prominently cast concert series guarantees a unique listening experience, a true festival of original sound, which only the Bruckner city of Linz has to offer in the Bruckner Year 2024 and which will be performed by eleven of the most renowned original sound orchestras in Europe under the direction of eleven renowned conductors.
