C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG is organising the 4th Bechstein-Bruckner Competition Austria in cooperation with the Brucknerhaus Linz. The competition aims to promote young pianists studying at Austrian music academies and conservatories that offer a solo piano programme.

The competition will be held on 10 June from 11:30 am and on 11 June 2024 from 10:30 am on a C. Bechstein concert grand piano D 282 in the Middle Hall of the Brucknerhaus. The compulsory pieces in the first round are Anton Bruckner's Stille Betrachtung an einem Herbstabende, a character piece in F sharp minor, which he composed in Linz in 1863 for his piano pupil Emma Thanner, and in the second round Wolfgang Amadé Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 13 in B flat major, which was also composed in Linz in November 1783 and whose first movement the great Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda considered to be "one of the most beautiful [...] in the piano literature".

Both rounds of the competition are open to the public and admission is free.
