Jazz concert
"Lady Jazz", "young trumpet prodigy" and "fée trompette" is what the international press calls Catalan Andrea Motis, born in 1995, who counts Louis Armstrong and Chet Baker among her greatest musical idols. The trumpeter, singer and composer has already demonstrated her talents on more than a dozen albums. Her very first solo album Emotional Dance was recorded in New York City with the participation of the two experienced producers Jay Newland and Brian Bacchus, who have worked with Norah Jones and Gregory Porter, among others. She recorded the CD Colors & Shadows with the WDR Big Band and her latest solo album is entitled Loopholes. She has played with renowned musicians such as Quincy Jones, Yo-Yo Ma, Omara Portuondo and Milton Nascimento, has sold out concert halls in Spain and caused a sensation internationally at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, at the Festival Jazz à Vienne or at the Tokyo Jazz Festival. In her quintet, the up-and-coming musician presents jazz with a thoroughly classical feel, oriented toward bossa nova as well as samba. Andrea Motis accompanied the Buena Vista Social Club on its farewell tour of North America with almost the same line-up.
